We have come at last to the final day of the Week of Food. Hope you’ve enjoyed the pictures this year. I now present Day Five:
I realized that last year on the final day of the Week of Food I had Chick-fil-A so I thought that would be a fun tradition to start. So I went there for breakfast and had a Chicken Biscuit, tater tots and sweet tea. Good, but their lunch/dinners are much better than their breakfasts.
Lunch was pretty standard. A turkey and cheese sandwich on sourdough, string cheese, chips and a mango.
Jenny made another wonderful salad for dinner. This one had mixed greens, feta cheese, pears and a homemade balsamic dressing.
And for the last meal of the Week of Food, Jenny made Biscuit Pot Pie with sauteed chicken and mixed vegetables. Super tasty, I will be taking left-overs for lunch!
It’s been a fun week so far and I’m happy to present the pictures from Day Four of the Week of Food.
Breakfast was a simple bowl of Cocoa Krispies.
No home-made coffee today, Starbucks was on the menu. An iced caramel macchiato. Yay for giftcards!
I finally got to my Caeser salad (although the lettuce had browned a little bit) for lunch and also had some chips, string cheese, and a banana.
The most wonderful drink in the world, a Pepsi (Throwback with real sugar) helped get me through the afternoon!
For dinner we went to a friend’s house for a birthday BBQ and I had 2 hotdogs and some assorted snacks: chips, fruit and cookies. I just didn’t take a picture of the snacks, people would have been looking at me weird as I took a picture of each bowl!
Day Four of the Week of Food ended sweetly, with some homemade hot chocolate that Jenny made for us!
Day Three of the Week of Food was a tasty one.
After an early morning run I had a bowl of snap, crackle, pop! Rice Krispies.
Morning isn’t morning without a good cup of coffee. And a Basset Hound!
Lunch plans changed and instead of having my packed lunch I had a left-over sandwich (from a staff meeting), chips, string cheese, and a cookie! Very beige 😦
I was on my own for dinner, which is always an adventure, but I think I did well. I fired up the grill and BBQ’d some chicken and grilled some asparagus.
I finished off Day Three and the evening with a nice cup of English Breakfast Tea.
Welcome to Day Two of the Week of Food!
Now that I have some time in the morning before work I was able to make a nice breakfast. A scrambled eggs and cheese breakfast burrito and French press coffee.
A co-workers daughter made cupcakes for us, so how could I say no? I had one of these little chocolate wonders.
Lunch was left-over pizza and a banana with a bit of reading on the side.
A Monster got me through the afternoon. You will probably be seeing these in a lot of pictures this week!
Jenny made a very healthy dinner that started off with a salad with blue cheese, toasted pecans, avacado and homemade dressing.
And for the main course: baked chicken with rosemary and broccoli and green beans sauteed with pecans.
It’s that time of the year, the 2nd annual “One Week of Food” in pictures! Glad you can join me again or if you weren’t around last year – welcome!
Typical of me, I forgot to take a picture of breakfast on the first morning until after I was done eating!
For Sunday morning breakfast we made pancakes from scratch with bananas, blueberries and maple syrup. We also made some burnt bacon and apple sausage.
I hadn’t slept well the night before so thankfully Jenny had some iced coffee she shared with me which woke me up during church!
For lunch we had something pretty healthy and that wasn’t a beige color! Grilled cheese on sourdough, sliced mangoes with mango yogurt and salad with toasted pecans, homemade dressing, and feta cheese.
For dinner we ordered from the best pizza in Ventura County – Topper’s. Nice way to round out the weekend, no cooking, not much to clean up, left overs for lunch later in the week!
And finally, a little bit of chocolate ice cream cooled my stomach at the end of the night.
