One Week of Food (Day One 4/10/11)

It’s that time of the year, the 2nd annual “One Week of Food” in pictures! Glad you can join me again or if you weren’t around last year – welcome!

Typical of me, I forgot to take a picture of breakfast on the first morning until after I was done eating!

For Sunday morning breakfast we made pancakes from scratch with bananas, blueberries and maple syrup. We also made some burnt bacon and apple sausage.

I hadn’t slept well the night before so thankfully Jenny had some iced coffee she shared with me which woke me up during church!

For lunch we had something pretty healthy and that wasn’t a beige color! Grilled cheese on sourdough, sliced mangoes with mango yogurt and salad with toasted pecans, homemade dressing, and feta cheese.

For dinner we ordered from the best pizza in Ventura County – Topper’s. Nice way to round out the weekend, no cooking, not much to clean up, left overs for lunch later in the week!

And finally, a little bit of chocolate ice cream cooled my stomach at the end of the night.

Opening Day

Yes, this is another post about sports. I apologize.

So yesterday was opening day of the 2011 MLB season! And thank you Los Angeles Dodgers for a great start! Kershaw was amazing (I think I may see a Cy Young Award in the future) and even sweeter was that the win was over the dreaded, hated San Francisco Giants.

In honor of a new season, I’ve started watching “Baseball” the 10 part documentary by Ken Burns that details the history of baseball. I just finished the first part which covered 1840-1900. So interesting.

Anyway, I’ll keep this short and sweet for you non-sports readers, but here’s to a great season, here’s to a winning season, and here’s to making it back to the play-offs after missing out last year! Oh yeah, and here’s to beating the Giants, and the Padres!
